Sharing of hot sites |

Independent hot sites It has been decided to permit setting up of "independent hot site" infrastructure by a consortium companies or any other company as a ready to serve sites or seats where mission critical processes can continue operations in the event of a disaster at the call centre location. The hot sites will be used only in case of disaster. The hot sites will be required to take registration from DoT under the OSP category. The independent hot site provider will provide only the infrastructure i.e. building, main servers, agent positions, power plant, air conditioning etc. The various client call centre operations will provide the following:- |

All proposals in which the foreign collaborator has a previous venture/tie up in India. The modalities prescribed in Press Note No. 18 dated 14.12.98 of 1998 series shall apply in such cases. However, this shall not apply to investment made by multilateral financial institutions such as ADB, IFC, CDC, DEG, etc. as also investment made in IT sector. |

All proposals relating to acquisition of shares in an existing Indian company in favour of a foreign/NRI/OCB investor. |

The local lease line from the hot site to the IPLC provider. |

Hot sites can be used by the call centres connected to it, at the time of disaster, by requesting the IPLC provider to switch its IPLC towards hot site and informing the same to Department of Telecom. |

Cross mapping of seats Under this option two or more call centres will come together and agree for use of mutual seats in case of disaster. During normal days, original call centres will use these seats. In case of disaster these seats will be vacated for use of the other cross mapped call centres. This would require the interconnectivity of the call centres who wishes such cross mapping. It has been decided to permit cross mapping of seats for the use during disaster within the same Group of Company. The cross mapped call centres will require permission for this from DoT in their approval. In case of disaster, the call centres can continue operations from the cross mapped positions and will inform the same to the department of Telecom. |
